The Los Angeles-based label – whose name pays tribute to Justin Timberlake’s home state of Tennessee – will operate as a joint venture with Interscope Records. The former NSYNC singer will serve as chairman and CEO, a statement said.

Timberlake says he has handpicked the artists who will be on the label.

He explained: “We are all excited about the talent we have to offer already on our roster, and I cannot wait to introduce the world to my new discoveries.”

Interscope boss Jimmy Iovine said: “Whenever you have the opportunity to get into business with someone as gifted as Justin Timberlake, you take it. We are thrilled to have his label as part of Interscope.”

Timberlake is said to be working with Madonna on tracks for her new album

Tennman will announce its first signings in the next few weeks, a statement said. Former Sony BMG talent scout Ken Komisar will serve as president.
